Heather Van Niekerk

Board Member

Heather van Niekerk has over 15 years experience in the NGO sector, which includes working for international organisations.  She is currently Director of Operations at Sonke Gender Justice overseeing the organisation’s finances, human resources, grants and administration teams. Prior to joining Sonke Gender Justice, Heather worked as Regional Finance Manager at Save the Children International, providing financial oversight for the Southern Africa Programmes. She also worked as the Executive Director of Amnesty International South Africa. She has served on several  boards including, Transparency International South Africa. She is currently the Chair of Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre’s Board of Directors. Heather holds a Bachelor Degree of Commerce and is the Treasurer of Oxfam South Africa’s Board.
